Learn to Surf on the Island of Oahu

Aloha everyone,

We have more information regarding our surf school lessons on the island of Oahu! Hawaii Surfing Lessons can be fun, but safety must always be first. Here are some valuable safety tips to help you on your surfing lesson adventure!

A beginner surfboard is usually 12′ to 11′, depending on the age and size of the beginner surfer! We always use big longboards for the beginner because of the buoyancy the beginner must feel to obtain balance on the surfboard.

With that being said, the surfboard is like a big ship, meaning that you are always pointing the surfboard either straight toward the wave or toward the beach, never sideways or parallel to the wave.

Also, the student must never go before another surfer or behind them because the waves can push them into each other! That’s all for now. Stay tuned for next week’s blog. We will be discussing how to catch the wave and successfully stand up and ride the waves! Aloha and A Hui Hou.
